The Philippe le Bon Tower in the stars – Evening tour of the Astronomy Room (with a French-speaking guide)
Let’s take off from the Philippe le Bon Tower (it looks like a rocket, doesn’t it?) for a journey through both space and time.
It’s a dream come true: observing the planets through an antique telescope from the tower’s terrace, just as it was when the tower served as an observatory in the 18th century—one of the most important in Europe.
We’ll begin the tour at sunset (from the terrace!). Then Mr. de Lalande, the greatest French astronomer of the era, will take you back to the Astronomy Room to explain its history (in period costume). And we’ll head back up to the terrace to observe the Moon’s craters and the planets visible at that moment—clearly visible even with the city lights. We can even teach you how to identify the constellations, using more modern methods than those of the 18th century !
A magical and fascinating experience !
